24 hours from now, along with a team of high school students and a handful of other leaders, I will be en route to the Dominican Republic for a seven day mission trip. I am SO excited to have this opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus and I cannot wait to see the Lord work in and through our team.
The summer before my junior year of high school, I went on this same trip (with CCC’s high school youth group to the D.R.) and it was absolutely life changing. I told a close friend of mine during that trip, “I know I want to come back here. I don’t know when or how, but I know someday I want to come back and do this all again.” Here I am, three years later, with the opportunity, not only to go again, but to go again as a leader. I am SO excited to be able to play a little bit of a different role this time around but at the end of the day, be there for the same purpose: to spread the love of Jesus to the Dominican people and teach them about a God that has given His life, so we can be made new.
Thank you so very much to everyone who has prayerfully and financially supported me. I know it sounds cliché, but I wouldn’t be able to pursue this without the financial piece falling into place and without your prayers leading up to this point. Any continued prayers over the next week would be so appreciated. Prayers for connection with and impact on the Dominican people we will encounter. Prayers for open hearts and open minds. Prayers for patience and Christ-like leadership.
This trip is only a small piece of a much bigger picture, one that involves all of us, both before and after this trip and I am grateful for all your love and support as we head out on this seven day mission.
